In 2011, I hit rock bottom. I cried a lot, I drank too much and I had toxic people around me, who pretended to care for me only to let me down, when I needed them most. Today though, I'm a happy person feeling at ease and I consider myself fortunate with how well things turned out.
I'm Nina and I was born and raised in Germany by my mum, who is originally from Panama and the most awesome and strongest woman I've ever met. I love her so much and I'm grateful for everything that she's done for me. I've lived in the southern part of Germany until fall of 2014. Since then, I've moved to Dubai and travel the world as much as I can.
Although I was raised Catholic, I don't consider myself a religious but a spiritual person. I do believe that there is a power greater than us which I call God; others might call it differently.
Having lived a quite stressful life in Germany, which got me close to a depression, and often having attracted the wrong kind of people, I knew that I had to change something. On top of that, I really struggled with society's stereotypes on how women should behave, look like and what they should accomplish.
I then started to read a lot of self-help books, to concentrate on mindful practices, to surround myself with like-minded individuals and to implement a healthier lifestyle. I also started to follow the lives of inspiring women, who stood up/still stand up for themselves and empower other women.
Our world has become so focused on womens' looks, being highly visual and fast-moving thanks to the internet and social media, that many of us have forgotten where real beauty comes from. It comes from within. It comes from being at peace with the world around us and with oneself. It comes from being humble, kind and understanding towards others and it comes from being nonjudgmental.
'A gorgeous Soul' stands for the process and the journey of experiencing that state of mind. So many people (not only women) have lost touch with themselves in this hectic and stressful environment, they forgot their real mission in this world. They barely take a moment to reflect on the true purpose of their lives or to be grateful and instead take everything for granted.
To live a happy and balanced life and to feel in sync with oneself is achievable by all of us. Not everything, that society tells us to be or to attain, is what really matters in life - quite the opposite: that stuff makes us often feel miserable and is not important at all.
That is why I made it my mission to empower women from around the globe to love themselves as they are, to accept their bodies, to embrace their sexuality and to be confident enough to reach for their goals & dreams.
I want to share with you what I learned so far on how mindfulness and slow movement can lead to happiness, inner strength, a fulfilled life and amazing relationships.
To be clear: I'm not an expert. Life taught me a serious bunch of lessons. I'm still learning each and every day and I'll continue doing so. My advice on certain topics can be valuable for you, because I've been there already, went through the struggle and succeeded.
My mindful lifestyle blog also features 'worldly topics' such as travel, food and yoga. I hope they serve as inspiration for your own lifestyle.
Thanks for being my travel partner on this continuous journey, that hopefully takes us each day a bit closer to being the most gorgeous souls.
